How long is Amex's memory?

Postby cljnco » Mon Oct 14, 2013 7:36 pm

Hey folks, Few years ago I filed CH7 BK. Including in the BK but with 0 balance at the time was 2 amex cards. One business card and on Blue. As a result Amex cut the limit to my blue card to $500 and the limit of my business card to $1700. I mean I am happy they didn't completely cut my card's. but I was wondering does anyone know if there is any chance they will eventually let me do a CLI again?I have applied in the past, but get turned down due to BK.

What's a few years?

My BK was back in 2000. They don't seem to care today.

There are many posts on this subject at credit boards and myfico. It appears that the number most used is 10 years. One way to find out is to apply!

Im guessing even if they say they 'forget' they never really do. Records are never forgotten entirely. It's always there.

They may choose to turn a blind eye to a past blemish but that is not a guarantee and is something only Amex can decide on.

All you can do is apply and see what happens. The risk is, when you apply, it may bring up the old wound which will hurt you again.
