Would I qualify for Delta? Suggestions

Postby jumbo » Mon Oct 07, 2013 3:36 pm

AMEX experts needed.
I am thinking of applying for Gold Delta SkyMiles, as I am planning to travel, and I want to get in the doorstep of AMEX aswell.

My AAoA is around 2.2 years. Had my first BOfA card in Feb 2010. After that I have acquired several cards that are listed in the signature below.

I had applied for BCE in August 2012, and was denied for high utilization (it was around 70% back then).
I don't have that anymore. My current utilization is around 24% (this includes the two card that I am carrying balance on, since they are Zero APR). In total the utilization is 24%.

Income is 40K. Had recently ONE hard inquiry 3 weeks ago, because of my PC and CLI from Citi Platinum Select to Citi Thankyou Preferred (I still don't have the card though, CITI is sending the card to me on November, not sure why).

I have other 6 hard inquiries, that are older than a year.
I recently checked my Experian report from freecreditscore.com (most probably FAKO), and the score was 731.

So, the question is:
do you guys think I will qualify for Gold Delta Amex? What are my chances?
Is there any trick/way to apply, so that my chances of approval is high?
If I am denied online, is there a backdoor number I can call for a reconsideration?

Thanks.

The AMEX Delta cards are reportedly the easiest to qualify for. Spring for the $16 and get your EX score from MyFICO, since AMEX almost always pulls EX for apps. Assuming no baddies on your report and a FICO EX in the same neighbourhood as the FAKO score, you're chances would appear to be better than average.

Took a bite, and applied for Gold Delta, and was approved instantly.

I then called the new account specialist to know about the CL, and its 10K (my highest limit yet, yay).
