That's really a question of do you use the rewards. The jump from regular gold to Premier Rewards Gold seemed like a no-brainer to me, the fee isn't that much more but with the multiple earning categories you can earn at a much faster rate.

The jump to Platinum is more than double on annual fee. You need to take a look at the added benefits and see if you would use them to make up the additional cost. A simple cost benefit analysis should lead you to your answer. I would start with the questions, how much traveling do I do.
Cards:
Chase Sapphire Preferred
Marriott Rewards
Citi Hilton
Barclay Arrival
AMEX BCE (member since 95)
Chase Freedom
Discover It
Wells Fargo Platinum
Barclaycard (Apple)
Local Credit Union Visa (buy local!)

FICO Scores:
TU: 824 (Aug 2014)
Experian: 789 (Aug 2014)
Equifax: 807 (Aug 2014)

This is an easy decision. If you like/want perks the most (SPG Gold, Airport lounges, Global Entry, Elite status with National Car Rental, Concierge, and more), then the Plat is a no brainer.

If you like points the most (since PRG has a much better point earning than Plat), go with the PRG. Plat is only 1x on everything.
PRG has the 3x/2x/1x feature and gives out free 15K points after $30K spend.

If you don't know what you can really do with the points, see my long post at the end of the thread here: http://creditcardforum.com/american-express/8297-what-does-25-000-miles-get-you-flight-honestly.html

It's a long post, but it really shows what Membership Rewards points are really about...

Worth is always highly subjective regardless of topic. You need to clarify what would make it worth it or not worth it to you in order for us to answer that question. Otherwise, compare the features, benefits, AF's, etc and make your decision based on that information.

IIRC, AmEx even has a comparison tool on its site.

Upgrading from the Gold to the PRG or Platinum is a product change (PC), as it's a charge type to a charge type. PCing the Jet Blue, however, would have to be to another revolver type, if you want it to remain a soft inquiry.
AMEX: PRG Gold, Business Simply Cash, Business Costco, BCE.
Chase: United MileagePlus Club, Sapphire Preferred, Amazon Rewards
Barclaycard Arrival World Mastercard
HSBC Cash or Fly World Mastercard
USAA World Mastercard, USAA Platinum Mastercard
Wells Fargo Business Platinum
USC Credit Union Mastercard
