Postby irvine801 » Thu Sep 26, 2013 12:35 am

Sorry to hear that- I've always had a NPSL on my Zync, my 1st Amex since '11.

I'm on the fence on whether or not to keep it open- I'm going to hold on until we hear any possible new information on whether or not they'll be keeping it around. IF the rewards are worth keeping I'll consider, but I don't use it anymore really. Was a great stepping stone card, if you will; I've since moved onto my $8k limit Blue Sky.

There are also recent issues with most Amex cards qualifying for EMV chips, but the Zync is one of them in which they can't equip EMV on it, at least until October 31st they say.

Any reason on why they're still keeping you at $500? Have the reps mentioned anything in particular?

Love my Unicorn

Postby wizozzie » Thu Sep 26, 2013 7:06 am

I love my Zync, Unicorn of Cards. For a measley $25 annual fee, I can bolster my AAoE and get MRf on random charges I want to isolate (because I also have a Plat).

For $25 AF, why would you consider closing the account? Leave it open forever.

As for why you aren't getting higher than $500... you need to spend on it more. Call them up and do a large spend on it on one month. Get a pre-approval for a $2500 charge then PIF it. You'll find your limit will expand pretty well after that.

I'm not going to close it out.. I just hate how the rewards aren't as valuable compared to the other charge cards. They won't let me do a single charge over 500. Even if I call ahead of time, and no CSR can give me a simple reason why... Lol I max the car 2-3 times a month and I'm sure you can imagine how annoying it is to pay it off 3-4 times! :P damn amex lol

Yeah it's cool looking/exclusive I guess, just wish it was equipped with "real" MR points instead of MRE at the very least. Still wishing for better rewards/redemption offers though if they bring it back.
