Why would you not want to pay for a car with a credit card?

More of a serious question, why do some dealers limit customers to $5000 if they're not paying with an AMEX? If they are willing to with no limit on AMEX why would they not on other cards? Does American Express have some kind of deal with car dealers to encourage accepting no limit or is it just those dealers want to AMEX holders as return customers? I plan to buy my first car within a year or two on my AMEX Platinum and this thread just gets me excited.

This is the charge to my Premier Rewards Gold card, but I chose to pay with my card for points.

Seems pretty reasonable for a 2002.

Yeah I thought it was a fair price but maybe I should have tried to get it a tad bit lower

AMEX Auto Purchase Program

Postby AMEXAT19 » Sat Dec 07, 2013 9:47 pm

Hey guys, I'm interested in getting another car within the next six months. Upon checking my statement this month on the last page were offers and new programs, I saw one in particular the AMEX Auto Purchase Program,

https://amexnetwork.truecar.com/main.html

has anyone used this program or understands how it works?
