Only suggestion would be to point them to this forum and this thread specifically, that others are able to do so quite easily.

I think that's kind of MB131174's point though. I have never been stuck with a CSP rep that wasn't extremely knowledgeable and friendly, the first time I contact them. My experience with AmEx is usually good, but sometimes, like you said, you get that less informed CSR with AmEx, and that's the difference. Chat/call I have similar results. Usually good (AmEx), always good (Chase). Ultimately it's obviously YMMV, but I can relate to MB131174.

Yup, I'm in complete agreement. The quality of support with the addition of chat, seems to have dwindled and is haphazard at best. One is at the mercy of whichever chat CSR one draws. AND we really have no idea whether they are stateside or offshore, which I believe can make a difference.

During my call to get my CSP switched from Visa to MasterCard, the rep and I were on hold with the benefits dept and we were making small talk while we waited. She was very pleasant, professional, knowledgable and I even told her that I had switched from AmEx to Chase solely because of customer service. She replied saying "Thank you so much! We really appreciate that! Yes, we've been making great strides to give great customer service, especially to our premium card holders." Every single time I've had to call CSP cust service I have received nothing but top notch customer service. I really appreciate their efforts. Owning my own business, it's nice to see a company such as Chase that values the importance of top level customer service the same way I do.

Also keep in mind that AmEX CS isn't the same across all products.

Following up w/ the EMV on Amex Zync

Postby ivotedale » Fri Sep 20, 2013 12:20 am

Following up on the EMV for my Zync I requested a couple days ago- I received it today, but...no EMV on it. It was strictly a replacement card. Crazy thing was it had the same 4-digit security number on the front but different 3-digit one on the back.

I called immediately upon receiving it in the mail and explained my situation- seems like there was some computer issue or something. Long story short, I think the folks on the phones are still used to saying "the EMV is only on the Platinum cards, etc..." - for what it's worth, the time and context I've been calling in is near 8-9pm AZ MST time. Always seems to be a non-domestic representative every time.

So I made my case, and the representative is overnighting me yet another Zync, with this time hopefully outfitted with a EMV card.

I'm also nervous to see if my Blue Sky card arrives w/ the EMV- as I requested it with the Zync. I assume it'll be here tomorrow, but again I was told BOTH cards are eligible.

What really bothers me was the conversation about "chip and signature" w/ the call I made tonight... she confused the RFID technology with the magnetic strip. As per all who convert to EMV chips, you cannot go back to a non-EMV version. I agreed, then she proceeded to tell me I will no longer have a magnetic strip.

I just kept thinking to myself "there's no such thing as a EMV only card...am I still able to go to the grocery store and swipe for payment?" and she said yes.

Minutes later, I had to clarify but she just didn't explain it in the correct way; my Zync doesn't have RFID technology in it anyway.

Sorry for the side-rant, but on a level of professionalism regarding my financial tools (credit), you shouldn't confuse those terms...I could only imagine someone with less patience being livid on the phone instead of myself...

She was very helpful still, but was still a tough phone call to get through. Now I just play the waiting game again.
Currently: American Express Blue Sky, American Express Zync, Chase Freedom Visa, Capital One Newcomers--->converted to Capital One Quicksilver Mastercard NO AF

I received my BCE with the EMV chip. Card is a little bit thicker (not noticeable) and more rigid. The chip doesn't stick out at all, its perfectly flush with the card.

Did you ever get your Zync? I've gotten 2 now with no chip. Today I called and they said they couldn't do them for Zync until 11/1.
