No it just means you will get a new card with a chip in it. Your number stays the same. Not sure about the 4 digit PIN though

Just put in my request for my BCE! The card number may change to my understanding. Also you can't go back to a magnetic strip only card in the future. Given how excited we all get for things like this, I don't see that being a problem.

I have been wondering the same thing. I have tried using chipped cards at Kroger, Best Buy, and Target and the machines have either rejected it or not even acknowledged the card is there.

No and lets hope not. Otherwise consumer credit card fraud protection will no longer exist. Just like Europe...

Just made the call to have my Zync and Blue Sky accounts outfitted with the EMV chips; should be here by Friday.

Are there any Amex cards that can't be converted into a chip+signature at this point? Seems as if most of them can, as per Amex's Chip+Signature segment:

http://chipandsignature.americanexpress.com

I don't travel internationally at this point, but good to get it out of the way now I suppose. At the least bit it will be a decent conversation piece.
Currently: American Express Blue Sky, American Express Zync, Chase Freedom Visa, Capital One Newcomers--->converted to Capital One Quicksilver Mastercard NO AF

So I just tried to order an EMV version of my BCE via online chat. The rep said it can be done through a link he gave me. I clicked it, exited the chat, and found that I could only replace my card if it was lost, stolen or damaged. There was NO WHERE that I saw to add EMV to the card. AmEx customer service has seriously gone downhill. I'm so glad I've switched my spending to my Chase cards. They are blowing AmEx away.

Try another chat -- perhaps you'll get a CSR that's more knowledgable. Only real drawback with AMEX chat is, if you get stuck with a less informed CSR, you're stuck. Only suggestion would be to point them to this forum and this thread specifically, that others are able to do so quite easily.

Called today about the Business Rewards Gold, the EMV chip is available for that card and it should be on its way. However, I was told that the EMV chip is not available for the Costco TrueEarnings card.
American Express Platinum Card
American Express TrueEarnings Card from Costco
Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Signature Card
Chase Sapphire Preferred World MasterCard
Discover It
