I think the OP wouldn't have any trouble getting either the Fidelity AMEX, Amex BCE/BCP, or the Amex Costco TrueEarnings. It just might not have the credit limit he desires.

For that reason, it may be worth waiting a few more months.

Amex BCE: 3% grocery, 2% gas
Bank of America Better Balance Rewards MC: $25/quarter bonus
Barclaycard Rewards Visa Signature: 2% gas, groceries, utilities
Capital One Quicksilver Visa Signature: 1.5% everything
Chase Freedom Visa Signature: 5% rotating
Citi Forward Visa: 5% restaurants/fastfood, movie theaters, amazon.com
Discover It: 5% rotating
SallieMae MC: 5% Groceries, Gas, Amazon
US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature: 5% electronic stores, restaurants
Sock Drawered: Chase Sapphire, Chase Amazon

hmmm well I am more into getting the backdating, although it looks like I may already be able to get that from last year as I was issued a corporate card by amex in june 2012 that I had for a 2 month internship. I have heard conflicting evidence though.

Robrus:

4 of my inquiries since january. Probably 2 more in the last quarter of 2012. One of these was for a car loan, all the rest were for apartment shopping and utility companies as I moved into my first apartment

Also I went on the creditcard site that sees what card you may qualify for and BCE was the first one. Good sign maybe but not really conclusive.

You'll get that even if you apply a year from now assuming you are eligible for the backdating in the first place.

Just not 100% sure that will work out. Re-evaluating everything it seems like I do have a ton of inquiries, although over a phone with a live person I can explain 90% of them came from apartment shopping and not seeking lines of credit.

FYI I don't think Fidelity AmEx is backdated. May want to ask, but since it's not issued by AmEx, I wouldn't think it'd have a "member since" date.
Amex Platinum
Amex BCP 21K
Amex SPG 5K
Barclaycard Arrival Plus WEMC 5K
Chase Sapphire Preferred 23.5K
Credit Union 10K
Discover IT 7.75K
