Postby lexrj » Sun Aug 25, 2013 8:43 pm

Got an email offer for the PRG with 75k bonus, just curious if it's a great offer or pretty common?

It looks like they really want me to get a charge card, it's showing online as pre-approved for every single charge card....too bad I have no interest what so ever on any of them.

Yeah, that is too bad. That sign up offer alone should make you interested a little bit. That's a great offer.

I would jump on that in a heartbeat. I've been holding out for a 50k offer. That 75k points is worth over $1k in cash by using a 3rd party broker, I do it quite often. It's also worth a minimum of 75k airline miles, though they often have transfer bonuses from 20% to 100% (historically). That could make 75k points worth anywhere from $1500 to $4000 in travel depending on the airline / transfer bonus. The card has an AF of $175 so this is pre-paying for over 6yrs of AF (if you count first year free) and of course you can cancel before the first AF hits. Why are you still sitting there? Take it!

Worth 6 years of annual fee? More like 3, actually. 5000 MR points = $35, so 75K MR points = $525 ($175 x 3). Unless, of course, regular MR points have a more favorable redemption rate for statement credits than MR points "Express" (which is what I'm basing my calculations on).
Blue Cash Preferred ($24K), Costco TrueEarnings ($8K), Better Balance Rewards ($6K), CashForward ($15K), Sallie Mae Rewards ($10K), Quicksilver ($17K), AARP Rewards ($15K), Freedom ($15K), Double Cash ($16.5K), It ($28.5K), Fidelity Investment Rewards ($18K), Cash+ ($11K)

As far as statement credits go, yeah, but potential redemption for flights, etc, should be worth at minimum $750.

My AMEX BCP and Chase CSP covers all my spending patterns for maximum rewards, I don't see the point of getting a card just for the bonus.
