So I was invited to join the American Express Gold rewards program today by a friend, I never had a charge card so I thought I'll take up the offer and join.
When I got to the application page the little blue icons by the bars wouldn't show the help text when clicking on them because Java or something crashed it. I'm a student living with my parents (with an income of $7000-$8000 from my parents) not working.
Because we own the house I put "own" because the help text didn't show at first, I only found out if you are a student you have to put "other" if you're living with parents.. the next hick up was at the household income, I thought they meant household income like all of the income that comes to the house (from parents, siblings, etc) and not only from spouse/partner so I put it as income from everybody in the house.. it was only later that I received an e-mail saying I'll have to wait 10 days to get verified, so I thought I'd go and go through the steps again only to see what I actually needed to enter... I feel incredibly stupid.. but most more importantly I feel like I lied, even if it wasn't technically my fault, I feel terrible.
What will happen now? Will they prosecute me? Fine me? Take me to court? It's killing me now, I lied on a charge card application form and I just feel awful.
