Seems like Amex is taking some AA these days against people judging by the posts. We all know they are known not to like you to carry a long term balance - just because they let you do it doesn't mean they WANT you to.

One guy said he got AA done to him, and another person reported their account was closed.

Just another reminder it's always wise to have backup plans in credit as with anything else.

Then I saw someone posted saying how the CSR told them that Costco Amex doesn't report to the bureaus each month, only if you are delinquent. That's true IF you have a corporate card but the regular card sure reports.

It's kind of embarrassing how low their customer service has sunk, the offshore team is just a small step above Cap One. A very small step.

I am new to Amex as far as personal cards goes i have the platinum card and a corp card through my job which the back dated my personal card to match the date of my corp card. I see more and more of these kinds of stories it doesn't seem good.

You don't sound stupid for asking a question (sometimes I wonder what those stand for too). It means adverse action, like closing the account or cutting the limit (or increasing the APR).

Funny I can't get approved or put on as a Authorized user on my wife's SPG card but I just got an email for a pre-approved gold business card with a 50k point bonus.

Amex is an odd animal that's for sure. They could either approve you for that, OR they could remember your delinquency and deny you for that. You just never know with them.

I'm assuming there is a method to the madness but I'll never have it figured out.
