Question on Plat vs MB AMEX Plat

Postby Wildcat_1 » Tue Aug 13, 2013 2:41 pm

All

Just a quick question here. Am I right in thinking that the only differences here are that the MB plat is $25 per year more and comes with the MB benefits on top of all of the benefits seen with regular plat AMEX or does it drop some of the regular benefits ?

Thanks

WC

You're correct - $25 more for the MB benefits. Nothing lost.

The reason it can be attractive is for the signup bonus. It tends to run at 50k MR points while the normal Platinum is at 25k. If you do it right, you'll get at least $500 in benefits from either card before even factoring in the bonus points from the $200 airline credit x 2 and $100 Global Entry reimbursement. There are plenty of benefits above and beyond those that add even more value.

Yeah, just be sure to read the fine print if you plan to use the MB bonus credit.

I just got the MB Platinum. I'll pay $25 extra dollars for 25,000 extra Membership Rewards points ;) . I haven't received anything from MB yet, but from what I understand, there's a $1,000 accessory voucher, and some mileage waiver for leases. It's pennies when you're dealing with a Benz, but still nice.

Oh, and I'll confirm, you can use the $200 Airline Fee Credit for Gift Cards (for tickets) on US Airways :D :D :D

Booked a third-night-free stay over labor day weekend through Fine Hotels & Resorts too. With that & the airline reimbursement alone, the card has already paid for itself...

Tiger, can you confirm that the MB Plat (when you get the docs) also gives you 1 point extra on travel when using AMEX ? This is stated on the regular AMEX Plat (1 point per $ on all purchases plus $1 extra point when booking travel) but cannot find it on the MB Ts&cs.

Thanks

It was a $100 voucher. I gave it to a friend who has a Merc.
