Learned Something about AMEX today

Postby Vandalized2 » Sat Aug 10, 2013 12:05 am

So I just called Amex CSR and I asked if I could do a BT to cover my tuition for my fall semester, because I didnt have the money to so myself. And I am on a intro APR 0% until 6/6/14.
When I asked if I could do a BT for the amount of my tuition the CSR said I couldnt do a BT unless I had an offer available on my account. Which , I did not.
Kind of bummed out that I can not get that 0% APR until next June and my college does not accept AMEX.
All in all an unfortunate night but learning something new is always nice.
I hope this helps someone else out.

Amex doesn't tend to care for carrying balances long term, especially large ones from everything I've read. It's always YMMV and some do it with no issue but I've read many times they don't like it as a rule. And hopefully you didn't mention to them that you can't afford it right now when asking about the BT - I'm assuming you didn't say that to them. (I wouldn't).
