Poking the bear

Postby craigm1 » Tue Aug 06, 2013 8:03 am

Here is my story,
had an amex gold and optima in the early 90's filed bankruptcy charged off about 15k to amex, in 2008 got a pre approved offer for a blue sky card took it converted it to a blue cash and now the limit is 34k, tried to apply for spg today and was told not approved because of a closed account, called to to dispute and they told me I had charge offs due to a bankruptcy and if i wanted to make payments then i would eventually be approved for the card. Hope I didn't open up a big can of worms and ruin my existing card. funny thing is I keep getting pre approved apps for gold and platinum card

I am not 100% sure on this but the Gold / Platinum are charge cards vs the SPG is a credit. I bet that has something to do with your pre-approved offers.

I can relate, kind of in the same boat. I doubt they'll do any AA on your current card. It's just a tactic to get you to pay up what you burned them for.

Adverse Action like decreasing your limit closing your card etc. They aren't going to do that.

Wondering why I would have gotten approved for the blue cash in 2008 with a 3100 limit and watched it grow to 34k if there was a charge off in there system
