Amex Plat - Get a GOLD card as AU, possible?

Postby SuperKirby » Sun Jul 21, 2013 12:12 am

So according to a poster in the Amex community forum, if I have the Platinum card, can I get a GOLD (specifically the Premier Rewards Gold) amex card as an AU? The poster said it should cost $45 for the AU. Anyone have this to confirm?

I have the Platinum and the cost for the AU (they have the regular Gold, not the PRG) and I was told that the annual fee is $45.
Wells Fargo Platinum 2.100 (5/2011-cld 7/12/14)
AmEx Platinum (6/12)
Barclays Apple (6/12)
AMEX Gold Delta (5/13)
Marriott Rewards (7/14)

Yeah man that was me telling you that over there, but yeah, no PRG just Gold, which is what I said. I tried that. And yes I can confirm it because that's what I have for my AU.

No, that's for the regular Gold. PRG is $175.

I hope they change the Plat to have some kind of Rewards version, even for an extra $, because although the PRG is pretty, I'd rather have all my AmEx spending on one card.

With a good record on a Plat, getting a PRG is cake.

PRG is not available for an AU of Platinum account. PRG is $175, correct, but that'd be for an individual account, not an AU for a Platinum account.

I agree, i wouldn't mind paying more for Plat if it had some kind of point multiplier. Sure it's a great perks card, but i feel weird never putting spend on it. Why i'm thinking of downgrading it to PRG and getting the United Club Visa, both which has good point multiplier's. But yes, putting everything one card would be ideal...

Well unofficially it is because all the points that are brought on the card go directly to you and not the AU so if they spent $200, you get 200 points. And that is on top of what you spend also.
