I hear they are really messing with the benefits on the gold and platinum cards to make them sound better while actually reducing them. This seems consistent with the statement about new benefits. They are adding new things that almost duplicate some of the old benefits while giving them fancy names to market them. You might get a $50 hotel credit rather than $100+free breakfast for example.

I do here that they are actively developing these so no one knows what the final product will look like.

How do you know that they are lowering the quality of the benefits if you don't know what the benefits are?
Wells Fargo Platinum 2.100 (5/2011-cld 7/12/14)
AmEx Platinum (6/12)
Barclays Apple (6/12)
AMEX Gold Delta (5/13)
Marriott Rewards (7/14)

What are the benefits with the Centurion?

This is interesting. Thanks for the updates!

I know they are thinking about a co-signer program and they have been piloting a secured charge card. Would your source have any updates on these?

Be careful of listening to rumors, especially when it seems everyone has a "source" these days. There is only one source, and I am that source. I am the AmEx Bear.
Poke me and I will F/R you

Yes a lot of people have a "source" they claim to have information. But mines work directly under them for a very long time so they teach me everything about the company and how it works.

My friend said that it's two revolver cards right now so I don't think that they are going to do a co-signer program. And there are already 12 different types of charge cards (including subcategories) so they have that market covered and locked down. Plus as you can see with the pre-paid cards and the savings/checking accounts that they are also trying to move into the banking industry.

The same way you know there are two new cards in development without knowing what those cards are.

The same way you know that they are changing the Zync's benefits without knowing the exact changes to the benefits.

The same way you know the Platinum cards are having changes to their benefits without knowing the exact changes.

They're rumors. People don't always have all the details associated with a given rumor.

Resurrecting a thread started before my time :)
So far, it looks like we can identify the 2 new cards in the Everyday cards.
Zync is still out of commission
I've read some very sparse talk on FT about amex reps mentioning changes in store for the plat card
I've heard nothing about the gold/prg except in this thread, and that's somewhat disappointing. i guess i'll just have to wait and see. maybe it'll ride the plats coattails in some shape or form

I'm actually about to cancel my Platinum card tomorrow, once my final payoff posts. If something new comes along that suddenly makes it worthwhile again, I'll eat the HP and app for it again.

But until then, "we're working on opening more Centurion lounges around the world, in addition to our current TWO," doesn't cut it, in light of all they've lost.
AMEX: PRG Gold, Business Simply Cash, Business Costco, BCE.
Chase: United MileagePlus Club, Sapphire Preferred, Amazon Rewards
Barclaycard Arrival World Mastercard
HSBC Cash or Fly World Mastercard
USAA World Mastercard, USAA Platinum Mastercard
Wells Fargo Business Platinum
USC Credit Union Mastercard

They announced new lackluster plat benefits in free boingo wireless access and TSA-Pre credit for the plat.

I'm with you on this one... PRG fee posts October. I will get the no fee everyday to keep points and drop the charge card if no other changes are in store for the charge cards. Signature and World Elite cards provide a lot of consumer protections as the charge card anyways...
