"No payment due at this time"

Postby sblfilms » Mon Jun 24, 2013 2:30 pm

I charged a couple of purchases early last week and paid them when they posted. I then charged my Sprint bill and it has now posted and I wanted to pay it, but the website won't let me make a payment.

Is there a limit to the number of payments you can make?

It's funny but I think this is also a case of YMMV.

I'm guessing this is a new card, and you are new to Amex, right?

When I got my first Amex cards last year I had the same thing. I was able to make one payment, then I couldn't pay again until the statement closed. After that I could pay whenever I wanted.

So this might be the case here.

I believe that you can call them and pay by phone regardless and that will work from what the CSR said.

You can also use your bank's online bill payment service, or, gasp, mail them a check.

I want to make payments as soon as charges post to keep the balances from reporting.

Amusingly, I did receive a letter from Amex about phone paying which is like online pay in terms of how quick the payments post to your account (same day if before 2:00 or so), but less convenient. Hopefully online pay will get unlocked soon...

It says No payment is due at this time, but have you tried to click the pay button anyway?

Mine says no payment is due but they let me make a payment anyway. Just wanted to mention this may be possible for you. If not, you'll just have to pay by phone or push like flan said until your statement cuts. Kind of a pain but really not that big of a deal if you think about it.

You don't need to do that to avoid having a balance report. Just pay before prior to the due date.

If I mail a payment in, it takes some number of days to arrive a post. I shouldn't have to not use my card when close to the statement close just because Amex arbitrarily limits the convenience of Internet pay.

Just call them up.

And it won't hurt if a small balance reports, for scoring you want a small balance to report. I wouldn't worry about it.

Happened to me yesterday. I normally pay off my charges even when some of them are still showing in the "Pending Charges" section. Yesterday, for whatever reason, it wouldn't let me pay more than the balance due.

Problem has been corrected as of today.
