I would post those but I've never been called nor do I wish to gain the troll title. Sorry LOL.

But it would be nice to top Bob. What about I pm some of my closest friends in here my handle there and we can all be that guy that tops bob! If we all post under one handle, we can surpass sponge bob there in no time!

I enrolled over there just to check out the stuff that they're talking about but today I noticed an interesting thread. They said that they think that the Amex Platinum card needs revamping, or, if you will, a makeover. They argued that the Plat is plastic while some Chase cards are metal with the business info on the back of the card. I've been pre-approved for the CSP myself and I applied and was approved. I'm waiting for it to come in the mail. My understanding is that it too is a metal card. Several follow up posts seem to agree with the initial post while others defend the "history behind the Platinum card" aspect of Amex's status quo. Hummm....interesting. I'm perfectly happy with my plastic Business Plat. Your thoughts, guys.

I'd be cool with it being metal with some platinum trimmings as long as they retained the EMV chip inside. And maybe a little diamond in the middle for good luck. It's supposed to be special, right?

Congrats on your approval for CSP. It is a great card and once you get it, you'll likely prefer its look and feel, and especially its weight. It makes plastic cards feel flimsy and cheap. I think if they did anything to the Platinum it would be to leave it exactly how it looks and simply make it out of a metal similar to the CSP. Plastic cards bend and on the Platinum the black coated numbers rub off in just a few days. They could definitely improve it, but I don't want it to look any different on the front.

Yeah, I added my input to that conversation. I really like the Discover IT card design and feel. As far as plastic cards go it's my favorite of the newly designed ones. It seems to be slightly thicker than regular plastic cards and is smooth on both sides. They put a clear film over all the text/numbers to keep them from rubbing off. I wouldn’t mind seeing Amex do something like that with the Plat…as long as they keep the color and graphic the same.

If the USA does go the Chip and PIN route (And 99% of the time with C&S as well no body will look at it), you'll find issuers will care even less what the card looks like as you are the only person who will ever look at it anyway.

One of the questions on there is "What is the most unusual item you've purchased with your Amex?" and I SOOOOO want to answer something like "A bong from the local porn and head shop. I got it for a friend who didn't have any cash on him, it wasn't for me of course". But they can track who you are, so I don't want to push that. But I would so love to do it just for laughs!

lol...yeah, I don't want to be a "bob" for sure. I try to have fun there but never trust anything until I verify it here.
