Good Job American Express

Postby catsartcox » Thu Jun 06, 2013 10:22 pm

So before I found this forum a week ago I did apply for a Capital one card. They told me that they wanted proof of income, not a big deal, though it was the first time I was ever asked. The same day I gave them all I had. I called today to ask for a update (3 days since I applied). They told me that it takes 3 weeks for their applications to go through. So I told them, enlight of what I read here and all, to cancel my application (my credit was yet to be ran). I was not happy with the CS and the waiting. I decided to jump the gun and get a AMEX. I called them and spoke to a kind-american-woman she walked me through everything and with in 10 minutes I was approved. at 3000$ for a blue card.

I am going to try to stay to really all my experiences.
Thanks guys for all of your information, is all pretty damn interesting. haha

Congrats! I too had a bad experience with Crap One, and was denied. Screw them, AMEX is way better.

Yup, I agree... Cap One is Crap One. My Crap One card is the ONLY CC I have that has yet to increase my CL (been stuck at $700 for over 2 years now). My AmEx BCE (which I love btw) along with my other "children" pretty much have a $5K plus CL each. I no longer have the Zync (cancelled it back in Feb), but applying for the AmEx PRG.
In my wallet:
AmEx PRG/ BoH Hawaiian Airlines WEMC / Chase Freedom /

In my sock drawer:
AmEx HHonors & BCE

I applied for a Cap One card believe it or not last June, after I had cancelled my Amex cards (which were still reporting). Denied. Best favor they ever did me.

Comparing Cap One to Amex is like comparing a rusty 72 Pinto with bald tires and holes in the floor to a new Mercedes.

Congratulations on your Blue Approval and remember 61 days after your account opened to go for a 3X CLI with it.

So your saying at 61days I can ask for 9000$? Wow...
Is it always every 61 days when i can ask for a CL increase?

No, your first one is at 61 days after you get the card then every 6 months after that.

Keep in mind that this is not an Amex rule or official business practice, nothing is concrete, but generally this strategy works. Congratulations by the way.
