Yaay Yaay I got approved for the AmEx PRG! Called them and inquired with CS if it was going to be a hard or soft inquiry. CS said since I'm already a member it'll be a soft inquiry. "Good Job American Express"

They seriously told you that? They work there they should know better.

Approvals on new cards are and ALWAYS have been for me (and I should know, having gotten 5 of them in the last 14 months) hard inquiries. The soft is only if you are already a member and are declined.

I would not take the word of that person and I would check your EX where you should shortly see the new hard inquiry.

Congratulations on the new card!!! I just wanted to set it straight. They really need to train these offshore CSRs so we don't get Cap One service. (That's one way I give Amex a FAIL these days I love everything else about them but the customer service is going to hell as fast as it's going overseas and that's just the truth). Granted it COULD be that somehow it's an amazing YMMV lucky break here, but I would sure check my report for that inquiry.

I did notice that they also had over seas CSRS. But I think it is just for their lower level reps. New accounts and such. To that though, they seem much more affluent then one would expect. At least they are well trained.

IT seems like a common practice to get both a charge card and a credit card from AMEX. Should I look into getting a green or gold Rewards card along with my newly approved BLUE? I can see it being used for all of your utility/service bills. Since one would plan to pay those off normally anyways.

FYI I know longer use my wells fargo. As it does not hold nearly as many benefits as my others(rental, price mach, warranty). Its just my oldest card.

I'm confused - you said you got approved for PRG, right? So you already have a charge and a credit (revolving) card (your Blue is a revolver, the PRG is a charge card). Thus, you don't need the Gold or Green as they are just stepped down versions of the PRG. I say just use that.

Might as well keep your Wells Fargo. Just buy a pack of gum with it now and then. Besides there are places that do not take Amex so you should have something else, just in case.

Hmm, I guess I will check with EX sometime this week. But ya, thanks I'm happy to have the PRG. It was a choice between the PRG or the CSP. I figured PRG suits my needs and what I want from a card.

You got lucky if they only did a soft inquiry. I applied for Blue Sky only days after I had BCE n they still did another hard inquiry. Kudos to you.

Yes EX is Experian which is what Amex invariably pulls your credit from.
