What does this mean...

Postby HookEmHorns » Mon Jun 03, 2013 11:50 pm

Applied for BCE, and I swear, I'm done applying for credit cards for like 2 years after this. Just really wanted this for the groceries and gas, when my rotating categories don't cover gas purchases..

Anybody ever get this message? I went ahead and applied now because my Freedom hasn't reported, so I figured I had a decent chance..maybe I was wrong?

it means you were not automatically approved. your application will be reviewed by an actual person. this usually happens when you have too many inquiries on your credit reports.
Junk I use:
AmEx Platinum for Mercedes Benz from, 75k spending ability
AmEx Everyday 8.99% + Prime, 44k CL
Chase Ink Bold, 35k
Chase Freedom (Converted from WaMu VISA) from '07, 5.99% + Prime, 30k CL

Junk I don't use
BoA Susan G. Komen Cash Rewards (converted from World Points MC) from '07, 7.9% Fixed APR, 30k CL
Discover IT (Converted from Discover More) from '08, 5.74% + Prime, 20k CL
AmEx Clear from '07, 4.99% + Prime, 10k CL
All 3 credit scores are over 800.

The good news is you weren't automatically denied. In cases like this I have always gotten the card—YMMV though. You may just have to finesse the CSR a little, give them a call; don't wait for an automated response.

When I applied for my SPG Amex I did it while logged into my account online. When I called they said it is routine to verify identity to make sure someone didn’t get my login info and start applying for new cards…moments later she was congratulating me on my new card.

Good luck, and let us know what happens!

They nailed it. It's going to be manually reviewed and a decision will be made then. It could go either way. Good luck!

I just called and they told me my application was still under review, and that there was no other information that they needed from me. I should get a decision within the next 48 hours.

It will send you an email when a decision is made if I recall. The best email in the world you can get has the subject "Your Card Application has been Approved!" by American Express New Accounts. I hope you get it!

Approved!

I'm loving AmEx, with just 6 months of CC history somehow I'm 2/2 with them.

Next card, CSP, in like 2 years, when I can get CLI's on the cards I currently have, and I graduate and can increase my income.

You actually have to opt in for email confirmation from Amex (which is nice). There should be a link on the application status page.

We are in pretty much the same boat. I'll be graduating from the University of Houston in the Spring of 2015 with a B.S. in computer science. I just app'd for the Amex Delta Gold, Amex Premier Rewards Gold, Discover IT, and Chase Slate. Approved on all four. Now I'm going to hang tight, finish school, get a cushy programming job to go along with my other business and live the high life!
