Well, paid off all CC's down to zero this month. BCE has the best rewards but as I said I use my CC's for credit purposes. My ultimate goal is to hit 800 CR. I used the BCE 3 times n now paid it off. The Blue Sky has the highest CL so that is what I am going to use now n leave the rest at 0. Wish me luck.

Well, I said I would post again after new CR posted with all the hard inquiries last month. AmEx is still with me, CL's still the same and also, for some strange reason my scores went up instead of down. So for now, I agree all the negative posts I read must have been from ppl who messed up and were disgruntled customers. My apologies AmEx. I love ya so far. =)

I found the same thing - even with inquiries and new accounts, my scores went up instead of down as I dumped Crap One and got better cards, to an extent. It doesn't work forever, but I saw the same thing.

Congrats to you enjoy your Amex cards!

Oh by the way, you will probably want at least one other non-Amex card for a couple of reasons - first not every place takes Amex and second, as a backup. Just take my word for that. I'm sure you will love them, but just do that for your own sake.

You'll find complaints for everything if you search. There's nothing to be concerned about if you use your accounts properly.

Like everyone mainly said, just play by the rules. Use common sense when charging and charge what you can afford to pay back. You got a great limit on the blue. Congrats on the new house to be and enjoy your good credit. Dont be afraid of what might happen. Just have a diverse wallet with diffenrt lenders and all will be fine.

Thanks for that good advice. Others have told me the same. I haven't cancelled the 2 Cap 1 cards yet. I have one sitting at 0 balance and I'm waiting for the next statement. If it shows 0 payment due then I know I'm in the clear to cancel it. I've learned from other posts not to cancel until you're sure their is no past interest due, otherwise it can come back to bite you as a late payment or worse. I'm grateful for forums like this. I'm keepin one Cap 1 as an alternate and also for history. I don't want to apply for anything else for atleast a year. I know I'd probably get approved but I don't want anymore inquiries.

Just an update for those in my shoes also new to Amex and have read the rumors...

I love Amex! They've been great so far and the couple times I've talked on the phone I've had outstanding customer service. Logged in today and to my surprise some pretty great reward dollars accumulated. I am extremely happy I chose to go with Amex.

I didn't completely get rid of Crap One yet though. Have a Chase Slate coming in the mail and when it gets here shifting a balance to it, then callin Crap One and telling them where they can stick thier card and thier overseas script readers.
