American Express Financial Review: Can I Reapply After?

Postby Utahnewbie » Tue May 21, 2013 10:11 am

My Amex Zync card received a financial review and was subsequently closed last year because I was a new immigrant and could not produce them the 2011 tax return. That was the only card I had with Amex at that time.

So now I got my 2012 tax return ready, and I know that after I get approved with a new Amex card in the future, maybe in six months, the financial review department will contact my and demand my tax return faxed to them.

My question is, do I have to wait until the new card get approved and fax them the tax return? Or I can fax them now and lift the FR limit on my file before I score a new card?

Since I don't have any Amex card now, so I technically don't have business to do with them, I'm not sure their FR department will review my request or not.

Any idea? Thanks.

I honestly have no idea. My feeling is you might as well just app, let them F/R you then send in the forms. Probably not what you want to do but trying to do an F/R with them when you aren't a cardholder might not help. Just do it the normal way even though that takes patience.

I agree. Go thru the proper process. Don't skip a step or try to apply a shortcut. The fact you were already denied once won't make it look too good if you are 'caught' trying to beat the system.
