Thanks Snowman. I don't plan to shut it down. I don't have any real expectations with it unlike a year ago. I just hope it lasts and I'll leave it at that. Beyond that, no expectations of anything. We'll see what happens.

Worst case would be I take the hard pull, they close me down even though I haven't done anything lately to them, and that's that. So I wasted one inquiry. In 6 months to a year it won't matter anyway.

Best case it stays open I get backdating I get CreditSecure which I've frankly missed since closing the Amex cards I had.

I don't know that luck has anything to do with it. More like I have the gall to actually app when most wouldn't because they would know it's a wasted effort. Something like that.

I do plan to lay very low with Amex, very low, and not rock the boat too hard with Chase though after hearing Freedom has 5% on Amazon 4th quarter I have that in my sights and would like to have that by Oct 1. But it's not worth rocking the boat with Chase to get it so I'll think carefully before doing that. If worse comes to worse I think after 6 months with CSP it shouldn't be too big a deal.

I thought about the PRG, but I have the CSP which is what I intend as my main "travel" card (and main card period now) as well as the BofA travel rewards as a nice backup. So it didn't make sense for me to pay the extra 50 dollars a year for travel rewards when I have 2 other cards to use for that. I know it gives you extra on gas and groceries but I already have cards that do that too. So it just wasn't worth the extra money for my intended use. And I thought of Green, but Gold is only 30 dollars a year more.

So I did think about it, but good advice I appreciate it and thanks for the Congrats too!

They may have given you a second chance...or maybe they're curious and want to see if you've changed and will keep you on a short leash, aka, small internal limit. Let us know when you get the card so it's official :)

Moneytalks when I got cards with them last year both the Zync and Gold were checked with the "Check my spending ability" (AKA please F/R me if I go nuts) button. I put in 5k on both, as soon as I got each card. Both were approved. Not sure what my internal limit was, but 5k is honestly sufficient for anything I do, and if not I knew to call in ahead of time.

What I did notice is going for 3 cards in a month like that makes them VERY nervous even if they approve you. Approval does NOT mean I would say that they are comfortable with it. I checked my EX report last Friday, and it still has the softs they were doing literally daily last June. That kind of scrutiny can only mean they are pretty nervous. I also saw that on 5/16, last Thursday, they had done a soft "Account Review" pull.

So, I will behave.

And thanks SRT8! Really seems hard to believe.

Does anyone know if the charge card limits are shared between two or more charge cards?

I.e. If you have the Plat and the Gold personal charge card? Will you only be able to spend a combined limit or is each one separate?

Gamma wrote:I use credit secure. Great product they offer for card members. Do you plan on doing a pc to a green later next year to avoid that high annual fee or applying for a credit card with them? The extra statement credit they offer for liking them on fb is also great.

please please please stop paying for Credit Secure. It uses your PLUS scores which are worthless, as are Credit Karma. FICOs are the only scores credit card companies use. I actually had CS for a while as I thought it was an accurate representation, until I went to myFico and poked around on FlyerTalk.

To me it's worth it. I don't care about the scores yes they are worthless except as a representation of your overall credit health. But the ability to pull my credit from all 3 bureaus each day and show the info all there on my screen is what makes it worth the money to me. If all I got was the scores I would agree it's totally worthless. But that's not all you get.

I have been reading your posts. I am very intrigued what happened to you with Amex, as I have something very similar that happened to me. I had a charged off Amex Platinum from 92 with 9K that I did not pay. Not until this month I received an invitation for the PRG with a 50,000 points bonus for just spending $1000 in the first 3 months. To my surprise I was approved and the card was sent to me the rush delivery the following day. Backdated to 92. I was and still am in shock.

After reading some of your posts I am kind of freaked out. I know they might forgive but they do not forget. I am planning on laying low with them and not go crazy getting other cards with them so quick. Is there any other advice that you can give me. I believe we have a similar story here.
