My AmEx card isn't working at Walmart.com

Postby Grupet » Fri Apr 26, 2013 9:44 am

Anybody has any idea of why Walmart.com is rejecting my Amex Platinum card when trying to spend around $500 online?

This is the message I keep getting...

We were unable to process your order using the card you gave us, ending in XXXX. Please use a different credit card, or contact your credit card company for more information. If you prefer, you may choose "Cash" as your payment method to reserve this order, and then pay for the order at your nearest Walmart store.

Oddly enough, the last two times I have been unfortunate enough to need to go to Wal Mart (Occasionally it's just unavoidable) I have used the self check out and both times the kiosk wouldn't accept my Amex or my Discover. I had to use my CSP. I thought after the first time perhaps there was something wrong with that particular kiosk or store connecting to those payment networks, but it happened a second time several weeks later. I called Amex and Discover to see if they knew anything about it, and they didn't.

I hate these spending pattern analysis things. Your needs change month to month, sometimes you're buying an especially large thing or saving up and cutting back, that does not mean they should start randomly declining charges when you're well under your limit and have never missed a payment.
Sole Ownership Cards:
1st Financial Bank Platinum Student Visa, $500 CL, Open Since 3/2012
Citi Forward Student Visa, $6k CL, Open Since 10/2012

SallieMae Rewards Barclay Mastercard, $2.5k CL, Open Since 4/2013
Jointly Owned Cards (co-owner with mom, not AU, used and paid only by me):
Chase Amazon Rewards Visa Signature, $2k CL, Open Since 8/2012
US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature, $13.5k CL, Open Since 10/2012
Authorized User (Parents Pay/Use)
Costco TrueEarnings Amex $29.4k CL, AU since 11/2012

+1 to you.

I attempted to charge something to my AMEX recently from Harrods.com and was declined, a quick call and I was able to run the charge through again.

Not necessarily when I went on business to Charlotte and unfortunately had to go to Walmart, had no issue using my AMEX there. Well actually that was before Bluebird had came out. Believe me at the rate they are going they will take whatever money they can get.

AmEx Platinum (6/12)
Barclays Apple (6/12)
