Amex 61 Day CLI Denied

Postby ncosky290 » Sat Apr 20, 2013 10:24 am

Called the number and asked for 3x my amount hoping for a better limit on my first amex after 61 days. Said could not approve due to my American Express Risk Score.

Does anyone know what exactly that is?

Also is it 6 or 3 months after a denied CLI to ask again.

Thanks

AMEX has there own system that tells them the "riskiness" of each customer. It might be a situation where they see that you have to many cards and/or you have to much debt and you need to pay either your current AMEX down or your other cards down.

So my debt on the amex is pif monthly but at 200 right now and over all my ration is about 18% on all my accounts. It is possible i have too many cards as my sig shows or because several of them were opened at the same time the amex was in feb.

not really sure how the 200 worked in your situation, but i have read that you should always pay off at least your AMEX before you do the CLI with AMEX. I can tell you that when I did my 3x CLI I waited and did it like at 7 months, and I put only 5000 from my original 2000 so it wasnt the full 3x. I didnt get the automatic, go the dreaded 7-10 days next day I got an email and saw that I got 4,800. Got the letter and it said something along the lines of my credit lines and my stated income couldn't allow them to give me the full 5000. I don't see how 200 less was any different but whatever I was happy I got something.

Wow thats a whole lot of cards to be toting around.

For those with more than 3 credit cards in their name, do you carry all of them at the same time?

I am at 4 and its already a lot to me. I only have 3 on me, I leave my wellsfargo one at home. The only reason why I have four is because I want one from each lender; discover, visa, master card, and AMEX. When I see people with more than 5 I wonder how they do it, or better yet why they do it.
