Charging privileges are suspended.

Postby lossgenius » Wed Apr 10, 2013 4:35 pm

I have had a Zync card for over a year and a half. I was recently approved for a PRG card last month. I use my card alot but today got a notice that one of my auto payments was not approved. I logged into AMEX to see this message at the top:

"Charging privileges are suspended. Please make an online payment."

Current charges are just below $4k

Should I make a payment now or wait for my billing closing date? I was thinking of waiting so they can see how much I really use my card.

Any words of advice would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance

If they say to make a payment then you should make a payment.

Waiting for what? They cut you off. You can't charge any more. How is waiting going to change that?

If you want them to see how much you use the card, pay it off today and start fresh tomorrow. Your internal spending limit will increase pretty quickly.

Advice is to call Amex to find out why the payment was declined.

Thanks for the responses, after reading my post I forgot to ask the question I really wanted to know, my biggest concern.

It was: If I pay before my billing cycle do i get the reward points for that money I spent or is it just for the balance at the end of the billing cycle?

I posted this question under the rewards section and received a response.

Thanks again and the balance has been paid in full yesterday..

I read that and for some reason started laughing hysterically...

Just because there is "no pre-set spending limit" does not mean it is necessarily true. I guess you figured out what your actual limit is. Also, have you considered using the other card that is not suspended? Esp. for a bill, you might wanna get on that.
