Simply Cash success!

Postby MB131174 » Wed Apr 10, 2013 4:34 pm

Having my own small business on the side I do have the AmEx Gold rewards charge card, which I signed up for a sweet 50,000 MR points bonus. Being that it will have a $175 annual fee come September, I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep it as I don't run very much thru that card. So, I looked online and found the no annual fee Simply Cash card and decided to apply. Got the "application pending, please call blah blah blah here's a long reference number you'll never remember blah blah blah" message. I went ahead and called, and after a few questions confirming a few things I was approved for a $5,600 credit limit. Not too shabby. Once all my MR points are posted and cashed out (in one way or another) I'll be canceling the charge card and avoiding a hefty annual fee. Good day!

That's not a bad card. Amex is slow to give out rewards though. I'm not a fan of their system.

5% off my cellphone bill & 3% off gas - and cash back is automatically applied each month as a credit to the bill. How can I go wrong?

Congrats on the approval, I think I will apply for that card for my business in about 6 months.

I think I read this is their "starter" business revolver, therefore it is easier to get. Is there any truth to that?

I would think the business Blue would be their starter. Hard to say though. I was declined for the Simply Cash previously, but got instant approval on the gold business charge card. After having that for about 7 months I applied again for the Simply Cash and got approved. If you don't plan on carrying a balance I'd start with a charge card that has no fee for the first year, then after having your foot in the door try for a revolver then cancel the charge. Worked for me.
