Reconsideration for Green

Postby gianqui89 » Fri Mar 01, 2013 12:09 pm

Hello everyone,

I applied for the Green card but was denied mainly due to high credit utilization and a couple of inquiries on my credit report. I decided to write to Amex Executive Office for a reconsideration explaining the reasons for the multiple inquiries and also included proof that I had began reducing my balances by about 50%. I sent that letter on February 5th. I checked my application status regularly for any changes. On February 15th, I noticed that the application was no longer appearing on the status check website.

As of today, I have not heard back from the Executive Office nor has the application reappeared on the website.

Any suggestions on what I should do? Should I give the offices a call or wait a couple more days to see if the reconsideration was approved?

Thanks in advance!

How long ago did you apply? I believe they show applications within the last 6 months. I'm "assuming" it was recent and didn't drop off due to age?

It wouldn't hurt to call them, the worst they can say is what they've already said - no.

Correct, I applied in January. I think I'll go ahead and give them a call

Are Amex Green cards still popular?

I would think so. It would probably be a good card for those that want to experience a charge card but not really pay a lot of AF. Or would be a good starter card for those that are coming off of the Zync or Optima card.
Wells Fargo Platinum 2.100 (5/2011-cld 7/12/14)
AmEx Platinum (6/12)
Barclays Apple (6/12)
AMEX Gold Delta (5/13)
Marriott Rewards (7/14)

My credit score
EQ: unknown
EX: 762
TU: 752

Is there really any reason to choose a charge card over a credit card like BCE from Amex?

I loved the green card, had it for about 5 years and used it for almost everything. I have no doubt my credit is where it is today because of the green card. It served me well, and to be honest sometimes I miss it, but the CSP blows it out of the water for same annual fee. If AMEX were to match it, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to it.
AMEX Blue Cash: $23,500
CITI Doublecash (World Elite MC): $11,200
CAPONE Quicksilver (VISA Signature): $12,500
CHASE Freedom (VISA Signature): $20,000
USAA Rewards (World MC): $13,500
USAA Rewards (VISA): $18,500
