Gold has lost its lustre.
Now Gold can not compete with other cards effectively apart being a charge card
It is better to use separate cards for each category to yield minimum 5% points or cash back than go for gold. At least you can save annual fee.

I'd only apply for the Premier Gold card. they have a pretty good promo now. A few days ago, I just increased my CL by 1k to make it $3,000. Should I wait until statement close for this to affect my credit score?

yes it wont report anything but the inquiry till your first statement is sent.
