i always noticed 20-35 point difference on credit karma and real fico score.
Also if i was going to get a card with Amex and was confident in my credit i would go with blue cash everyday

Unless you are going to use it just for the perks like extended warranty and roadside assistance, there is no reason you shouldn't go for the Gold Premier Rewards since it's additional rewards multipliers + the 25,000 sign-up reward (if you spend $2000 within 3 months) + the first year's fee of $175 if waived. The price per year after year 1 is only $50 more than the standard Gold's $125, and assuming you're ready to pay that amount, I wouldn't imagine another $50 would hold you back from a far better rewards card.

I got approved for Platinum myself and I'm only 20 - though I have had my own credit card since I was 18. With your yearly income and credit history, I don't see them turning you down for a gold card.

Well I have a Gold card and the reason I have it was that I was looking to increase my credit. I didn't know at the time that being pre-approved didn't really mean anything and I just applied since have an AMEX card I thought would help. Granted so far I'm happy with it only for the fact that I want to have platinum but allow everything to grow (income, credit score, etc.). So IMHO this was a good starter card for AMEX considering I didn't know about any of the other charge and credit cards.
Wells Fargo Platinum 2.100 (5/2011-cld 7/12/14)
AmEx Platinum (6/12)
Barclays Apple (6/12)
AMEX Gold Delta (5/13)
Marriott Rewards (7/14)

My credit score

Would it be possible to get AMEX Premier Gold, get the 50k point sign up bonus. Use the card for a year, then downgrade to regular AMEX Gold?

I'll second that. To the OP, go for the Blue Cash Preferred or the Costco Amex instead.
Blue Cash Preferred ($24K), Costco TrueEarnings ($8K), Better Balance Rewards ($6K), CashForward ($15K), Sallie Mae Rewards ($10K), Quicksilver ($17K), AARP Rewards ($15K), Freedom ($15K), Double Cash ($16.5K), It ($28.5K), Fidelity Investment Rewards ($18K), Cash+ ($11K)

Yes, it is possible to do that. You will need to product change in a year to avoid the higher annual fee.
Looking to maximize credit, for myself and others.

How will this affect my credit? I have Citi Forward with CL of $2,000 (looking to eventually increase). Then the Amex Gold will be my second card, which I will use as my primary card. Since its a charge card, will this kill my credit score?

Visa- It does not have a great Impact on your scores. Yeah the inquiry will knock a few points off but that is to be expected. Additionally, Amex charge cards do not report a limit when you check your credit report. It will show the highest balance you have ever had on it, However. But as long as you pay a little bit after it has been reported, or before the statement date you should be okay, and I don't think it will haver much Impact on your scores. The only affect it had on my score was the fact that I opened a new account, other then that, your score will be okay. If I were you, I would get a revolver as well since I have also heard of people getting a charge card as well as a revolver and the BCE/BCP/SPG are typically the hardest to be approved for while the Gold Delta is the easiest to be approved for. All Charge cards have the same underwriting criteria and are easier to be approved for except for the Platinum and Centurion.

well, I'd have to pay the complete balance. But what will my credit report take my credit line from? From my other Visa card (with the 2,000 CL)?

Visa- Yes, the balance is to every month so that is why there is no interest on these cards. Yes, they will see the limit and they will see the issuing bank as well. I had my 1st card reporting a 700 limit with my only card from BOFA, and I was approved for 3 more cards. You should be okay IMHO.

so there is no way my credit score will go down if I get the Amex Gold? Assuming I pay the bill on time and everything... What if I dont spend much money on it
