Delta Gold to BCE or BCP

Postby ncosky290 » Tue Feb 19, 2013 3:18 pm

Hello, I just got the Delta gold card because I was told by many it is the easiest to get. I really wanted the blue cash card either the BCE or BCP. How long should I wait until I ask for them to change the card type and rewards.

Very surprised they let you change products quickly as you just got the Delta Gold. I'd disregard what twitter CSR's say and get a CSR on the phone to confirm it.

If you got the card within the last 3 months, I wouldn't expect them to allow a product change.
My Limits:
NFCU NavCheck: $15,000/NFCU Platinum: $11,500/NFCU nRewards: $8,000
Chase Freedom: $6,500/Chase Slate: $6,000/CSP: $5,000/Marriott Rewards Primier: $5,000/United MileagePlus Explorer: $5,000/Southwest Primier: $3,000
Citi Hilton HHonors: $9,700/Citi Simplicity: $8,200/Citi Forward: $5,500
AMEX Blue Cash Everyday: $8,000/SPG AMEX: $5,000/AMEX Everyday: $5,000/AMEX Delta Skymiles Platinum: $3,400
Discover IT: $7,700
Barclay's NFL Extra Points (Carolina Panthers): $5,000
DCU Platinum: $3,000
RTN FCU CC: $2,000
CCCU Platinum Rewards Visa: $2,000

Current total limit: $129,500

Well I'm going to wait till I get the bonus miles then change. But why would they have an ask amex if they may not be right. That's not useful. Doesn't seem like Amex to do that.

Can you honestly put the complete information of your quesiton in a tweet? Did you inform them you JUST got the card? They may reverse the bonus promo if you product change immediately after it posts. If you have your heart on the bonus, I wouldn't product change it and just app for the card you want.

The common answer from most people is don't cancel or product change until 9-12 months after you get the card. They have the right to take back the bonus or blacklist you otherwise if they feel you are a churner.

They won't allow you to go from the Delta Gold to the BCE or BCP. I have the Delta Gold and i called and asked them that exact question and they said that the Delta Gold is in a different class and doesn't qualify for that particular product change. I even called 3 different times and asked an online rep. and they all said the same thing. They said you have to apply for either the BCE or BCP. Bummer I know.

AmEx has made it all but impossible to do product changes, unless it's within the "blue" family. That is just one of many customer unfriendly moves by them that has soured my opinion of them.

When I asked about when I could get a product change on the Delta Gold, they said that I could do it as long as the card I want to have the card changed to was still a Delta or Hilton product and that after 12 or 13 months, I could be eligible to do that. Same thing with upgrading the no annual fee EveryDay card to the Preferred version.
