I have found Chase has lax standards at the moment, so I would apply for one of their cards with a couple more months of history.

Once you have 3-6 months under your belt with Chase, apply for an American Express Green.
Looking to maximize credit, for myself and others.

BUMP!

So more updates:
as of today:

myFico.com score - 730 (Equifax)
credit karma- 701 (TU)
credit sesame- 744 (Experian)

Fixed the fraudulent cc w/ a 30 day late payment on my Experian report....AMEX gave me score of 642 ....still pending investigation b/w Experian and Wells Fargo but my score shows 744 on credit sesame today, I have no clue how that happened before the investigation was completed? Dispute was still pending when I called EXP today.

My very first credit card ever, the secured Wells Fargo (400 CL), reports for the first time in a couple days on 2/20 (I left 1% of the balance hanging to show some utilization, but I paid the balance down from around 50% utilization via mid-month payment to get it down to 1% ($4 down from $200-ish) for when WF reports to the bureaus on 2/20.

current Credit Report summary:
(active)
WF secured (CL 400) opened 01/13
Law school loan ($20k) opened 08/12

(inactive)
Car loan (paid in full by 07')
Undergrad College student loan (paid in full by in 09')

I really want the AMEX so I see 2 options: Apply for Discover IT and re-apply later OR .....just ride it out for a month or so with secured card and reapply for AMEX/ask for reconsideration after explaining that Experian had fraudulent card that needed to be cleared off? Either way, how long should I wait before reapplying?

any suggestions?

Well Amex would deny you if you would reapply again within 30 days. I would just wait a few months get your utilization as low as possible and then pull your experian report (amex usually pulls from them) and make sure it is correct and everything looks good and then try for the amex. I don't know why you would go for green though. I picked the delta gold. Low limit but i hear that isn't a big deal if you use it right. They will let you bump it up so hopfully by the end of this year i can have my limit at 9k.

I have to say thank you very much for that information right there. That explains why I have my Gold card. I've always wondered what kind of background did you need to obtain a charge card. (at the time my credit score for EXP was about the low 700's). Looking to upgrade within the next couple of months.
Wells Fargo Platinum 2.100 (5/2011-cld 7/12/14)
AmEx Platinum (6/12)
Barclays Apple (6/12)
AMEX Gold Delta (5/13)
Marriott Rewards (7/14)

My credit score
EQ: unknown
EX: 762
TU: 752
