Using AmEx with Mint.com?

Postby Cyberius » Thu Jan 31, 2013 11:02 am

Anybody here use Mint on their Amex account?

Somewhere I read that logging into your Amex account too often could trigger F/R (I believe one of the threads here, can't recall and I'm not sure the accuracy of that statement either).

Didn't know if that may be the case here as well, so I'm curious to see if others here have to say.

I don't see why logging in too often would trigger it, I log into my CC accounts every day, sometimes a couple times per day, including Amex. I've only heard about the "Check Spending Ability" thing for charge cards used excessively being a trigger.

SallieMae Rewards Barclay Mastercard, $2.5k CL, Open Since 4/2013
Jointly Owned Cards (co-owner with mom, not AU, used and paid only by me):
Chase Amazon Rewards Visa Signature, $2k CL, Open Since 8/2012
US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature, $13.5k CL, Open Since 10/2012

Mint logs into all four of my Amex cards daily. I also log in at least 3-4 times a week. No FR.

Cool, good to know. I have 2 Amex cards, Platinum and Zync - both NPSL - curious as to what Mint would show as the credit limit for the cards. Do any of yours report a limit to Mint or do they just show a balance?

I don't know how you can possibly use Mint. It's a disaster piece of software, and even worse since Intuit took over. I use Quicken, it blows, but it's the best out of a bad selection. There is no good personal finance software.

Active Cards:
Chase Freedom 10+10 Visa Signature ($9k Limit - 8/2012)
Chase Sapphire Preferred ($10k Limit - 2/2013)
Chase Ink Plus ($7k Limit - 2/2013)
Discover IT ($9.5k Limit - 10/2012)
AMEX Zync (No Pre-set Limit - 1/2010)
AMEX Blue Cash Everyday ($20k Limit - 1/2013 - Backdate to 1/2010)

I log into my accounts at least once a week and so far I have not had anyone FR me yet. But I agree with carter about mint. It is terrible...which is why I don't use any software to keep track of my finances and I just keep track by logging in to my accounts every week. Also messing with the check your spending ability button often is asking for an FR and I have heard people getting FR'ed for messing with the button to much...

I've been using Mint ever since AMEX removed their Money Manager program. It's decent & it's free software.

If logging into AMEX too often triggered a F/R, I'd be F/R'ed up the wazoo because I log into all my accounts at least 4 or 5 times a day :D .

I use Pageonce and works great. Another added benefit to using their app is the extra cashback you can get with their offers they give out.

In Free softwares for financial account tracking, I find Yodlee Moneycenter far superior to its closest rival Mint.com, all others being far behind.

Yodlee 9X version is better than most recent Time machine version.

Mint has limitation on foreign accounts. In addition, bills like car and home insurance can be easily tracked in Yodlee.

Irrespective of which software you use, these have read only access so nothing like FR should trigger by use of these tools
