Applied once and was approved. Now I've applied for other cards (Visa) and been denied multiple times.

Interesting. Did you apply for a charge Amex? Curious what changed.

Once. Well, twice. Approved both times, once for Zync and then for Platinum, both with NPSL. Use them both, glad to have the Zync since I like the white card and now it's discontinued.

when I first applied it was around 1987 or the annual fee was 45.00 , I picked up the application at Macys Garden state plaza, it was the first credit card application i ever filled out. I was denied a few months later I applied for a First Fidelity visa and was approved.
I think a few years later I applied for the Gold card(in those days there was no premier rewards gold card) the annual fee was either 65.00 or 75.00 I think it was around the early to mid 90's. I know in 1998 I applied for the gold optima, I picked up the application at the Nanuet Mall
when American Express came out to meet new cardmembers and try to get people to apply for there cards.

I was given there lower level blue optima I wasn't happy so I canceled the Blue optima. I'm sure there were other times I applied for
the Green card and was denied. I don't even know if there were credit scores in those days.

in 2010 I applied for the green card and was approved I don't know what my score was then.

1 for my first app, of which I was easily approved (SPG). I tried again a couple months later (bad timing on my part I think since I had new accounts reporting) and was denied the Gold (for having too many new accounts).

On my second attempt I was approved for the AMEX - I have only had the card for 5 weeks so far so good.

I changed my finances a lot more compared to the 1st time that I applied for the card.

I wanted one so badly because I heard how good AMEX are and the card that I have has no annual fee and I get points credited to my QANTAS Frequent Flyer Account. The card is worth it - a nice foot in the door card and I get points as well for no annual fee.

I applied once (last August) and was accepted. It was for the Costco AMEX card–applying for that particular card might be one of the easier ways to join the AMEX family and establish a good history with them.

The Costco Card isn't my every day card and does not include access to the concierge program, but the stories about American Express having great customer service are definitely true (I have been continually impressed). I'd like to add another AMEX card eventually.

It took me 2.5 years to get approved for a AMEX. Just got approved on 2/8. The card is on the way. Have a Blue card in progress now. I applied every 4 months up till july of 2012 then stopped. Figured AMEX hated me. Applied on the 8th almost instant approval. didn't give me instant but didn't say 7-10 days. So check the app status said approved. Called for the limit. Also was told in 61 days from activation I can request a CLI. After that every 6 months. Just keep your utl under 30% and try for the delta gold or green. Those are to be the easiest to get. I have a blue card in progress without even getting or activation the delta yet. fingers crossed. Good luck!
