Approved For Costco

Postby Bksuper » Fri Jan 18, 2013 9:42 pm

Given that Im a Full Time student with no employment, only 10 months of credit history, and only 19 years old (and thus affected by the CARD act) I was pleased but shocked to be instantly approved for my first non-student credit card that I applied for on my own (no parent guaranteeing it) and an Amex Revolver no less, which are supposed to be harder to get. I had to try for the backdating but it was surprising to be approved instantly and for a $2k limit! :D
I chose the Costco Amex because it was cobranded so presumably easier to get than the BCE and I wanted the backdating, which will increase the age of my oldest tradeline. I will use it for Costco purchases mostly, until I get a Fidelity Amex for that (which doesn't backdate), after which it will be used membership renewal, travel, and gas only I guess.

This is my least favorite card of all credit cards. the reason you go approved for this card is because costco wants members because
they charge a membership fee depending upon which card you want even if you have the membership on the back of the card.
while the Blue cash card you don't have to be a costco member to have this card , which is a reason why i'ts harder to get than the aqua/costco card.

I already needed a Costco membership to be on my parents card, which I need for medical copays, so Im not spending any extra. Not to mention I save more on wholesale energy drinks than I spend for my costco membership. I already mentioned I chose this card over the blue cash because its easier to get approved for and I wanted the backdating.
