I'm 18, in a situation similar to yours. I was just approved for the SPG card, with a $2,000 credit limit. (Though I did already have a Zync card, and I am an AU on two of my parents' charge cards.)

As far as travel benefits go, I'd say it can't be beat. You can use points for hotel stays, or transfer them 1:1 with over 30 different airlines. Plus, with a $65 annual fee that's waived during the first year, its cheaper than any of their currently-offered charge cards.
American Express Zync (primary) - main card
American Express Business Platinum (secondary) - for business and platinum benefits

I just called about this service thinking it was a good deal compared to other sites and it's crap. You get a one time access to all three reports and after that it's just Experian. Not only that, the service was just awful. Amex's website has been up and down all day and I was ready to sign up for this service online only to be told the system is down.

When I called, the rep told me the only way to get email alerts is by signing up online and if I sign up on the phone I'll get real-mail alerts. What gives?

As far as Green card, is it easier to be accepted for a Green v. Gold or is just the same acceptance criteria but just targeted towards college kids that aren't as likely to benefit from the higher annual fee and bigger perks?

I went with the Delta Gold. I don't see the use of the charge cards. If you are going to use it then why not just use your bank card. I understand the rewards and stuff but you can get those with credit cards as well. I will never want a charge card. Just my opinion though.

On the same day apply for the following in this order
1. CLEAR credit card
2. GREEN charge card

You will either get approved for both or most likely for #2.
DoubleCash '99:10k / Freedom '07:11k / CU '11:15k / Slate '14:13k / Premier '15:10k / InkPlus '15:5k
