Getting Gold Status on my SPG

Postby bperdeck » Tue Dec 25, 2012 6:36 pm

I'm currently an SPG cardholder, I've had the card since August of this year and I'm getting pretty close to the $30,000 spend. 2 Questions

1. is my calender year August 2012-August 2013 to accumulate the 30k or is it August 2012-Dec 31,2012?

2. When gold is achieved, is automatically applied to your account? is it 3 points for every dollar spent normally or only 3 points per dollar spent at a starwood property?

thanks!

I'm going to say at any starwood perfered guest hotel like the best western or a sheraton or any of there hotels.
if you use your starwood perfered guest card to go out to eat at a Ruth chris as an example you would only get 1 point per dollar
but at a starwood hotel 3 points per dollar.

1. I think SPG runs on a rolling calendar, so August to August.
2. 2 to 3 points is when you stay at spg properties. So when you reach gold, you'll get 2 pts on the card 3 pts for gold.

Thanks for the replies. When gold is reached, is gold just designated or is there an actual different card?

Also, I had a Friend who was gold check his statement to compare dollars spent to points recieved and he said it was more than 1:1 but not 3:1
