BCE to Blue Questions

Postby MrMosby » Mon Dec 10, 2012 10:29 am

I'm thinking of converting my BCE Premier to a regular Blue Card so I can bank membership rewards and have a few questions -

  • Can I even do this?
  • Is the regular Blue card still a revolver? My understanding is I can't convert a credit to a charge, nor would I want to as I'm in the process of selling my home and buying a new and that would affect my available credit.
  • Does converting products cause a credit inquiry? I'm hoping no because again with applying for a new mortgage I don't want the extra inquiries.

Ultimately at the end of the day I want to just put my wife on my platinum and only have that card with Amex but I need to pay of the $1000 I've been revolving on my discover for a few months (due to money I would have paid it off with being dumped into savings for a down payment on a new home) and finish all that goes along with getting a new mortgage before closing out a credit limit.

So for the time being I want to see if there's a way I can earn rewards with our other card.

The regular Blue card is indeed a revolver. I'm not sure about the credit inquiry/conversion process. I'd call them and ask.
