Question about PRG 50K offer received

Postby Torontonian » Thu Dec 06, 2012 10:33 pm

Hello all, I m new to this board. I m Canadian, working in the US for the last one year.

I currently have a bank of america secured visa with a 10K limit since February 2012. I have been getting many marketing mailers with the so called pre approved offers for the last 3 weeks or so.

Amex sent me a green, then gold and now a preferred gold letter with 50K points ($1000 spend in 3 months)

Is this the highest bonus they give? Has anyone got a better offer ( greater than 50k) recently?

Thanks

I have never heard of one that high, so I'd take it.

Sounds like a targeted offer.

50K points for $1000 spending is an amazing offer. I would take it in a heart beat.

Main Card: Amex Platinum
For gas: Penfed Platinum Cash Rewards
For travel & dining: Chase Sapphire Preferred

My fiancé gets those offers pretty frequently. The most anyone else without that targeted offer can get is half as many points so I say go for it.

I got 50K when I signed up for my Platinum and that was a special offer then, right now they're only giving 25K.

So yes, that is about the best they give :-)
Everyday Preferred $45K | Amex Platinum NPSL | Delta Platinum $30K | Chase Sapphire Reserve $74.5K | Discover IT $42K

Thanks for all the replies.

One more question, suppose my billing date is the first of every month. Do I have to ensure that amex gets the full payment by that exact date ? Do charge cards have a grace period like credit cards.

Have never used charge cards before, need to know if i decide to apply.

I do understand that I cannot carry a balance on these, I have never had a balance on my credit cards.

I also have a Secured card with a high CL from Feb. and I got the same offer! Not sure if I want to drop $175/yr, though.

Hey there Torontonian. You have until the beginning of the second billing cycle to pay your balance.

Let's say you charged $1200 from November 18th to your closing date of December 18th. They will ask you to pay it by about January 2nd, but you have until January 18th to make the payment without any late fees or penalties.
Looking to maximize credit, for myself and others.
