I've been lurking this forum for the past few weeks and decided to join after reading the great quality of posts.
I just moved to this country, I'm US born (so have SSN etc) but lived in England my whole life. I'm 19 and taught myself to program, so I make 65k here. When I got here, Chase didn't give me a Credit Card even though I put a fair amount of cash into a checking account etc. So I applied for a Crapital One, which is terrible, but.. building credit and all.
I moved here 9/24, got capital one I think 10/24 or so. I maxed it out because it just has no limit... I know it was a bad idea, but I paid it fully down. So I applied for a buuuunch of credit lines, maybe 6-7. My Amex report went through first, and I did them all very closely. I have a "thin file" - I can't pull a fico score, a report from any of the CBs, nothing.
So I AmEx approved me for a Blue with a $5,000 limit? With no credit report? Only caveat... they wanted tax papers, of which I obviously don't have yet. So I asked if I could send 2 paystubs and then said fine. Faxed them over, next day - approved.
Is this going to really help me credit report? What should I do now CC wise - give it a break? I know to request about $14500 in 60 days but that's it.
Thanks in advance,
