Walmart Bluebird card reviews?

Postby circle_k » Tue Oct 23, 2012 8:51 am

I was walking through my local Walmart store yesterday and I saw this big display for BlueBird. It was the first time I saw it but on closer inspection it appeared to be a prepaid Amex???? What's up with that?

Anyhow, my parents like to do these weekend getaways and they are strongly opposed to having anything to do with a credit card. That little piece of plastic was made by the devil himself! Anyhow, they always take traveler's checks and I was just wondering if something like this would be better for them?????

Okay, I was too cheap to pay the $4.95 set-up fee to find out what these things were so just wondering if they were any good to have. It appears no monthly fees draining your funds, so that would be good, save money on the card for several months then hit the road and no bills when you get back.

I have one and while I have not had any major problems with the card, I do have to say their customer service is horrible.

As long as you never come across a situation where you need to talk to a real person (card lost or stolen, questions not covered by website, etc.) you should be fine. With this card you get the amex card, but none of the customer service you expect. There is either a 10 minute wait or they hang up on you informing you they are too busy to answer your call.
