Hey Snowman, just wanted to give you a heads up about the amex preapproval thing that just because nothing pops up for you that you won't get approved. I checked it and had nothing. But when I applied for the gold card I got approved. I don't know what kind of amex you want, I know the charge cards are less risk, but don't let that discourage you from applying for the card you want. So what's the deal with this Disney card? I would say don't waste your time with this one. I'm from So Cal too. I go to Disneyland all the time. In fact I'm going tomorrow, going on a date with some broad, but yeah it has never occurred to me to apply for a CC with them because of this. They already take enough of my money with their ridiculously overpriced annual passes now haha. Just wanted to throw that in there, but ultimately it's your decision. Good luck!

Hey bob, how long was your history and scores before getting the AMEX Gold? and yeah, that thing never pre approves me for anything. I truly want a Gold (I don't justify enough for the PRG) and a BCE. I like the Green because it looks like an entry level charge card. Haha, where are you in the OC? I'm in Santa Clarita, near six flags. And the reason why I wanted to get it was because I go to Disneyland 3-4 times a year, so it'd make sense, and my little bro (he's 6) loves Disney, so some of the benefits looked good, other then that, I don't really need or want the card. Haha, it gets more expensive I swear and the annual passes are definitely over priced (I have one), and things are more expensive everytime I go there. I'd apply for it one day, definitely not now though and thanks!

I'm not sure what my scores are now. I need to check on myfico, but I know they are definitely better than what they were a couple months ago. I had recently paid off a collections debt and had it removed from my CR :) I'm from Mission Viejo. I've had credit for 10 years now. Got my first amex at 21. Keep us posted Sman!

Cool! By the way I admire your interest in credit at such a young age. I'm trying to teach my 21 year old brother about credit and he doesn't give a s*! haha

Thank you haha. You never when you need credit so you might as well as start now. And that sucks, if he ever needs credit, how is he going to get it with no history? Maybe one day he will :)

haha I know how that feels. When I turned 18 I immediately applied and got my first credit card. My older sister at the time was 23 and didn't have any credit history at all. It took like two months of constant nagging and pressuring to get her first credit card at 23 lol.

Also @Snowman, to cancel your free scorewatch I think you have to call and cancel
AMEX BCE ($20,000), Citi Forward ($6,800), Discover IT ($5,250), BoA Travel Rewards ($1,800)

Actually his credit scores are amazing! I pushed him to get an Express store card when he turned 18 so he could start out somewhere and was doing really well it. He then applied for a Macy's store card and started using it a lot. But those are the only cards he has now. He gets offers in the mail ALL THE TIME for Discover More and even AMEX Gold! I try to tell him to apply for a major CC, but he doesn't want to because he thinks he'll get himself into debt, which I know he won't, he's just being dramatic or just doesn't want the responsibility of having to pay another bill. But whatever! There's only so much I can do.

Snowman,
I think you have a good shot at getting approved for the Green/Gold - depends on how much of an AF you want to pay out. You could always get the Green an just PC it to a Gold/Gold PRG/ or even a Platinum (LOL - hey, you never know) in a year.
Amex PR Gold - NPSL (Daily) [8/2012]
Amex Zync - NPSL (Ex-Daily) [10/2010]
Amex BCE - 19.2k [8/2012]
Chase Freedom Visa - 5k [8/2012]
PSECU Visa/PSL - 20k [9/2012]
