I'll go for it on Saturday after work or Monday since my statement cuts on Friday. And yes, according to the new accounts department, they told me that I had applied on the phone. When I applied for the Green card earlier this month,it was not approved. Basically I had taken a screen-shot and sent it the man at new accounts and told him that I had applied through the Internet page and not through the phone, basically they said they that there was no inquiry made according to the man I had talked to. I don't know about needing an AMEX, but I have always heard great things about them and their customer service, I don't mind the annual fee either. If I do not get approved then I can understand why. Ive heard of people on this board and other boards getting approved for Amex with 6 months of history. And no difference If I apply for the student or regular version.

I think it's a better idea in your situation to apply for cards that you know you'll be approved for. With a six month history, you don't want to waste an inquiry on a card that was out of your reach. Not saying Green is out of your reach, but it is more out of your reach than some of the other cards you want like the Citi Forward and Discover More, both which come in "student" versions which make them substantially easier to get. But hey, if you're still debating on the Green, you should post a thread on myFico and you will get lots of opinions.

PS did you try the AMEX preapproval thing?

I really want the citi forward. I want the discover more as well. but from what I have heard on this forum and myfico forums (I am a lurker, no account on there, but they say that you have to be at a 4 year old school, in order to have that card, I go to a community college so I don't think I'd qualify.) I did try the AMEX preapproval thing (I'll try it again sometime next week.) but it says I do not have any offers or anything like that.

I have both the Citi Forward and the Discover More. I go to a 4 year university though. But I do recall that when I was applying for Discover there was an option to select what type of school you go to. It was like 2 year college, 4 year university, grad school, etc. and then what type of degree you are in progress of achieving, and Associate's was definitely on there. For the Citi Forward I think I just selected my school from a drop down list after selecting the state, and I definitely saw community colleges listed on there. As long as you are a matriculated student and you can prove it by mailing/emailing proof of enrollment (like student ID or tuition bill for current quarter/semester) when they ask for it, you should be fine.

The only thing is I don't really want a discover student card. I'd rather have the regular version. Also when should I apply for any of the cards I mentioned in the last few pages. Cause my statement will cut on Friday and it will be six months tmrw, but idk what to apply for, in what order, and what my chances are for getting any card right now. I don't want to risk a hard inquiry for no reason.

There is no difference between the student and regular version of the More. The rewards are the exact same. The only difference is that they have much more lenient approval criteria for the student version. I am not sure if there is a signup bonus involved with the More. I read somewhere that Discover's income requirement for the none student cards is $10k minimum and someone on myfico said it was $15k for the regular More, but I don't know if that comment is legitimate or not, lol.

I think you are ready to apply as soon as your new statement reflects on your Credit Karma (or whichever credit monitoring thing you use). Btw Discover also has a pre-approval thing. I think you could do both the Citi Forward and Discover More, or just one of them, up to you.

Idk when credit karma usually updates though. But I'll try for both cards and if I don't get discover I'll try next semester. What about the rest of the cards mentioned on the previous page? Do I have a shot of qualifying for any if those? Should I wait till next semester for some of these cards. Basically I just need a plan of action...lol.

You can update CK yourself by clicking "update now". So hopefully your new statement will be reflected on Monday or Tuesday next week.

As for the rest of your cards

Amex Blue Cash Everyday - AMEX Revolver. Shouldn't be terribly hard to get, but it might be risky with 6 months of credit history and a $12k income and only 1 credit card account. I would wait on this one if I were you. Perhaps next year?
Citi Forward (student or regular version) - Go for the student version, you'll get it.
Discover More - Go for the student version, you'll get it.
Chase Freedom - Heard mixed things about approval for this. I have a co worker who has absolutely NO credit history and got approved with a $500 limit. I think you have a shot with this one.
Chase Disney card - I haven't heard very much about this card at all. There may be a few threads about this on myfico, but I haven't read any recently.
Chase Sapphire Preferred - Might be a little difficult for you to get at the moment. Try this when you have a couple years of history and a higher income.
Amex Green - Potential shot, but I would apply for the BCE instead of the Green.
Amex Gold - Nothing is impossible, but approval chances will be slim with a 6 month history.

Don't go too crazy and app for all of these at once lol! Credit building takes a lot of patience...I waited three years before applying for my second credit card.

Bce- I was thinking of waiting until next may to apply for it.
More and forward- ill look into applying for it either Monday or Tuesday.
Freedom- I was lurking around some of the myfico threads and saw that people getting with not much history ( a member here on our board got one with one months worth of history) 6-7 of history got one, but they were saying on myfico that chase would not approve them if they did not have more then one years worth of history. Idk about applying for it right now.
Disney- I go about 2-3 times a year to Disneyland, so it'd be the only time I use it.
Sapphire- that would be a card that I would apply for in a few years, definitely not now.
Green- what do you mean potential shot? I would have applied for the sync, but it's discontinued now. Green I thought would be a good entry level charge card.
Amex gold- I want to apply for it and have seen people get approved for it with my type of history, but idk about getting approved for it.
