I'm guessing location plays a large roll too. $14k is not the same everywhere.

Update: So I called their new accounts department this morning. I talked to a man named Roger, and he told me that apparently it was not considered a hard inquiry because apparently there was a glitch, and their system had told them that I had applied through their phone system and not through online application (you have be 21 apparently to apply through the phone), and be 18 to apply online which is what I did. He invited me to re-apply again since I would think it is a mistake on their part, and no hard inquiry was made according to what he told me. I am thinking to apply on the 28th or the 29th for all three card that I mentioned (since AMEX says that there was no inquiry was made), The citi forward for students, Discover more, and the Amex Green card. In simple terms, he basically told me that there was no inquiry made and also I kept telling him that I applied through their online system and not through the phone, which is what they sent me in their letter stating that it was from phone, and thus it was an instant denial. I'll try at it again in a few weeks..... :)

that may be why then because I am 20 and I had my stated income as 12k and I live in Texas. Cost of living here is no where near as high as in California or ...... New York. **** I don't know how people make it up there.

You have to make a decent living 432521 in order to survive here. Thankfully my parents are pretty well off for the most part (dad's an anesthesiologist, mom works as a nurse) so we're still doing well for the most part. But yeah, as I said in the other post, that apparently there was no hard pull or inquiry and it was a glitch, because I applied through their website and not through the phone (which you have to be 21 apparently to do so). Also does it make any difference if I apply for any of the three cards now or after the 28th or 29th?

I can't imagine waiting a week would make a difference. From what I know AoAA is reported as Years and Months, not Days. I guess if you knew your AoAA was going to increase then, it might make sense.

Vermonster- The only reason why I asked is because my account will officially be open for 6 months in one week. So I was thinking if it would increase my chances or not make much of a difference.

I'd app a couple of days afterward. If I recall correctly, I didn't even have an Experian score until I had exactly 6 months of history.
