Is the old grandfathered version of Blue changing next year?

Postby craigm1 » Mon Oct 08, 2012 10:56 am

Everyone says the new cards are being capped, can anybody confirm the grandfathered cash back being capped as well? How would that work you spend your $6500 minimum and and if you use it for groceries you get 1% for the first $6500 then you spend $6000 in groceries and go back to 1% can anybody confirm this change in there OCT statement or are we in the clear???

I had not heard anything about BCE. I have heard that BCP will only pay 6% on groceries up to the first $6,000 spent a grocery stores and 1% thereafter.

That is the problem with these cash back cards; each and every one of them has changed since they were first introduced. Citibank Dividend used to be the BEST cash back card out there with 5% back on gas, groceries and drug stores. Now it is a joke with Discover/Freedom-like 5% rotating catagories. This year Dividend didn't offer 5% on gas or groceries! Discover used to be better; Freedom used to be better. That is why I take new cash back cards like the US Bank Cash + card with a grain of salt because it is only a matter of time before the banks tweak the reward structure to benefit them instead of the cardholder.

Just hung up with amex they have no intentions of capping the groceries on the original blue cash, was real close last year to upgrading glad I didn't,any other local members with the original blue cash out there!
