How much do you charge per month?

Postby Itsally1011 » Tue Oct 02, 2012 8:37 pm

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forum! I was just wondering how much everyone charges per month on their Amex charge cards?

I'm just trying to figure out if I am really going to use my new gold card enough to earn real benefits and to offset the AF. I have quite a few other cards with great rewards programs (Freedom, Amex Delta and Blue sky preferred etc etc).

I really wanted the platinum but was freaked out by the $450 fee....so applied for the gold on a whim....and was approved. Now I'm regretting it a bit.

Thanks!

I use my Gold card for most everything that I would otherwise use cash or a debit card: groceries, gas, restaurants, movie tickets, etc and of course, golf. I use my Amex Business Gold card for all business expenses: air fare, lodging, car rentals, golf with clients, etc. Reward points add up quickly. By the way, welcome to our CreditCardForum family! It's a GREAT forum!!!

I use my green card mostly for restaurants , But depending upon the time of year I might purchase a gift card to barnes and nobles
sometimes some purchases at Target.

To help you out you live in Northern Virginia, I see you have a Chase freedom and a Delta sky miles.
It all depends on you do you travel on business, do you use your credit cards every night if you don't travel, how often if not every night, do you live home with your parents, do you have a condo, only you know how much your Mortage how much gas& electric, common charges, your optimum bill
you have to figure out your income from your paycheck, plus your money market or dividends,
what Socelli wrote should help too.

I charge on my green card anywhere from 125 a month up to 300, depending upon the time of year. but I also have
a condo, a Mortage , gas & electric, optiimum bill, common charges I have 2 other credit card bills My Discover and Capital1 venture
I work for social services are pay checks are not great there ok.

as far as the Gold card do you plan on getting tickets to theatrical performences before the public can get them. would you be going
to the circus, Harlem globetrotters, would you be going to any concerts? these are the questions you need to ask yourself?

Usually around 4k per month, but keep in mind I fly from molokai to oahu RT 4-5 times a month lol. I will be able to get 3 round trip interisland tickets this year if i transfer my rewards points to hawaiian miles. Defenitely outweighs my annual fee.

I probably charge $1000 or so a month. Some months I may do alot more. My biggest expenditures are student loans and mortgage payments, which I can't charge to a credit card. I charge everything I can to cards, but I concentrate my spending on cards that get the most cash back for whatever category I'm spending on.
