I'll just call and ask and won't commit to anything just yet.

You cannot upgrade a Zync card but you may certainly downgrade the higher charge cards to a Zync.

You have it because it's SHINEY haha, but seriously, you get the Amex roadside assistance, whereas with the Green, you don't. I guess if you don't care about the prestige, then you're better off downgrading to Zync like others have said

I drive a 2010 Jetta TDI and it has it's own roadside assistance, plus my car insurance has roadside insurance. So I'd never use it. I really don't care anymore... I'd like to have it but not at $125 a year. Zync will be sufficient.

I temporarily forgot about roadside assistance. But, they only pay up to $50 per incident. That doesn't get you very far.

True, but I live in hawaii so the farthest they would have to tow me is a couple blocks.

Downgraded to Zync today. They're going to pro-rate the charge for the annual fee and credit me back a pro-rated amount for my Gold Card. I think I'll actually have a credit available after they do this. They said it will stay with the same number and everything, won't change a thing on my credit report or hurt me in any way when I go to apply for the BCP in January. I wish I could apply sooner. I'm not a fan of waiting.

I have been asking myself the question that this thread poses. I was a proponent of having it just because it looks cool. I know it wasn't a good decision, but I was willing to make it. The only benefit to this card is the fact that I get a little longer to pay the balance than a normal credit card.

I'm probably going to cancel this card entirely after acquiring the Blue Sky or something like that. I may downgrade back to the Gold as well.

I still plan to cancel mine. I haven't used it in about two months, now that I have the CSP and the Ink. I still have the Costco to keep the membership going and may start churning a few Amex hotel cards in January.
