Warranty Extension Stacking

Postby djrez4 » Wed Sep 19, 2012 4:02 pm

Let's say I purchase a TV at Costco. They extend the warranty from one year to two. Do I get an additional year of extension - to three years - through Amex's program?

Credit card warranty is on top of manufacturer's warranty (Sony, Samsung, etc).

Additional warranty from retailer like Costco is called third-party warranty. Credit card warranty does NOT stack on third-party warranty.

So if a Samsung TV has an original warranty of one year, you only have a total warranty of two years. First year is serviced by Samsung, and second year is serviced by Costco or AMEX.

So, what you're saying is, I get coverage from the manufacturer for the first year and coverage from both Amex and Costco for the second year?

What happens is that for the first year, should anything happend Samsung will send in their repairman.

For the second year, you can either call Costco or AMEX, and they will arrange an independent repairman to meet with you. You don't need to call both, either Costco or AMEX will be fine.
