Credit card warranty is on top of manufacturer's warranty (Sony, Samsung, etc).
Additional warranty from retailer like Costco is called third-party warranty. Credit card warranty does NOT stack on third-party warranty.
So if a Samsung TV has an original warranty of one year, you only have a total warranty of two years. First year is serviced by Samsung, and second year is serviced by Costco or AMEX.
