What are my chances of getting approved?

Postby TheDarkKnight » Wed Sep 19, 2012 12:54 am

Hello all, first time posting here. Would like some help and info regarding my chances of obtaining an AMEX card.

Brief history:

Early 20's.
Got approved for first BOA secured card Jan '10 with a $500 limit. Got that because I wanted to build credit and I was already banking with BOA.

Secured card was upgraded last November to $2,000 BOA Platinum Plus Visa Card.

Approved for an HHGregg card by GE Capital purchased a big TV with it last November and paid it off 6-7 months later.

Also have a card with EXPRESS (clothes store) that I've paid off in full month to month whenever I've used it.

As of right now, my balance on my BOA Platinum Plus is at $1,600 of the $2,000. Had to make an emergency purchase recently, but am paying it down $200 a month. So was going to wait a few months for the balance to get really low before I tried to make a move on applying for an AMEX. Before the emergency purchase, was paying off my balance in full month to month with no problems.

I've read a little bit from searching on the forums here of looking into a Zync or one of the Delta Skymiles cards? Wanted to know what you guys suggest I do.

Based on what I read, I would go for zync from amex or the clear card. I've heard those are 2 easiest cards to get from amex.
-American Express Zync.
-Discover IT. 4.5k limit 7.99%
-MC Citi diamond preferred. 1500 limit
-Visa Chase freedom. 2k limit.(23.24%, NOT IN USE)
-Miles by discover 1.5k limit.7.99%
-Best buy store card. 1500 limit
-Mt. America visa 1k limit

Can you explain into detail somewhat? I'm not planning on applying for another few months. Not right now in this current state.

Clear is not the easiest card to get, given that Clear charges no fee on BT and cash advances.

Easiest AMEX credit card are Hilton and Gold Delta. These two cards do not offer intro APR, making underwriting criteria easier.
In My Wallet:
Citi Forward (12/2010) | Citi TY Preferred (05/2011) | Chase Freedom (11/2011) | GECRB/PayPal (05/2012)
Discover it (07/2012) | AMEX BCP (09/2012) | TD/Target REDCard (10/2012) | Chase Ink Classic (11/2012)
BofA BBR (04/2013) | FNBO/Overstock.com (02/2014) | Barclaycard Arrival (04/2014) | FIA/Fidelity AMEX (04/2014)

Yes that is true. But delta and hilton have better rewards programs then clear. Rewards are the main reason anyone uses a card . I think if he were to apply for clear he would have a better chance to be approved opposed to delta or Hilton. But hey u might be right. That's just my opinion.

Trumpet Irvine is 100% correct the clear card is the lowest level card on there site, the vice president of cold stone , Dairy Queen
and shortline bus don't have these cards , but people that are busboys in restaurants, hosteses and are janitors in the offices probaly do.

there might be some people have good jobs like accountants who have the clear but not much.

Thanks moneycard. Yeah zync isn't bad at all and on top of that the annual fee is low compared to green, gold , delta etc.
